Research Program Manager (Microelectronics)

The University of Minnesota’s National Security Research Institute (NSRI) seeks a Research Program Manager (Microelectronics) to drive business development, program creation, and implementation of a microelectronics focused portfolio. It is expected that the candidate will play some leadership role in developing programs from relevant funding agencies. The role combines sponsor-facing program leadership (contracting, reporting, planning) with technical fluency across electronics, trusted design/verification, hardware security, advanced packaging/heterogeneous integration, RF/opto/power devices, and lab-to-fab transition. The position will also manage NSRI’s partnership with the UMN SCALE program, aligning sponsor needs with workforce development, hands-on training, and curriculum modules that strengthen the secure microelectronics talent pipeline.

Multidisciplinary Proposal Developer

The Multidisciplinary Proposal Developer in the University of Minnesota’s National Security Research Institute (NSRI) serves as a strategic catalyst for advancing the University’s National Security Research Mission. Acting as a trusted partner to faculty, research teams, and institute leadership, this role is integral to securing highly competitive funding that drives innovation and impact. From initial concept through final submission, the Proposal Developer leads the creation of complex, high-quality, multidisciplinary, and multi-investigator proposals. The position brings technical insight, shapes research narratives, defines scope, and integrates strategic content that strengthens competitiveness. It also manages timelines, orchestrates cross-departmental documentation, and establishes the governance, budgetary, and collaboration frameworks needed to meet sponsor expectations while aligning with NSRI priorities. Working closely with NSRI colleagues; faculty across campuses; and administrative, research, and compliance offices system-wide, the Proposal Developer helps cultivate strong internal and external partnerships, assemble high-performing research teams, and align faculty strengths with emerging national security opportunities.

This position reports to the NSRI Assistant Director of Operations.

Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub: Minnesota

Events Coordinator

The Minnesota National Security Ecosystem is seeking a full-time Events Coordinator for the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub: Minnesota. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing events from conception to completion, under the guidance of the OnRamp Hub’s senior staff, reporting to the Program Manager. The Coordinator will fill an early‑career role that supports senior staff who set event strategy, establish priorities, and oversee programmatic decisions. The Coordinator ensures day‑to‑day logistics and planning tasks move forward smoothly across the team.
